We beginnen met de (aardig) rauwe vrouwenband Bleached. Het punky ‘Think Of You’ klinkt alsof het in een schuur is opgenomen (wat het waarschijnlijk ook is). Op woensdag 6 juni kan je de vrouwen live zien in OT301, Amsterdam. Als extraatje hebben we de vorige single nog even bijgevoegd.



Terry Malts: Smashing chainsaw pop from this great San Francisco group. Smart, funny punk-pop with all the hooks, energy and attitude you could ask for. If you’re into The Undertones, Buzzcocks and/or The Exploding Hearts you should definitely check out Terry Malts. Nou ja, dat dus.



Ik vond nog een fantastische omschrijving van de volgende band:

WHIRR (formerly Whirl) generates suspenseful songs of soothing, razor sharp guitar textures backed by soft, cooling vocals. The band’s supercharged spirit rejuvenates the ’90s shoegaze sound, providing a widescreen update for the post-millennial era. WHIRR’s wall of lush guitars, breathy vocals, dreamy synth and thunderous drumming propel listening ears into a near-cinematic realm where instantly catchy melodies and emotional, enveloping atmospheres hang perfectly in the balance. The group’s celestial lean has been described as “if My Bloody Valentine decided to cooperate with Sonic Youth,” and has drawn comparison to influential acts such as Slowdive, Lush, Ride and The Cocteau Twins.

We hadden deze band uit San Francisco al eens eerder gehad en nu hebben we ze ‘whirr‘. De rauwe shoegaze van ‘Junebouvier’ (lekker titeltje) bevalt ons wel.



Volgende week maandag komt de debuutplaat van 2:54 uit, tot die tijd moeten we het doen met de nummers die tot nu toe zijn uitgebracht. ‘You’re Early’ is een prachtig voorproefje.

Om er gelijk goed in te komen beginnen we met Whirr. Zelf noemen ze hun muziek ‘loud music from Northern California’. Nou, dat klopt ook wel op zich. Maar het is geen terror hardcore, het is wel melodisch luide muziek.



 Tango In The Attic is een energieke, offbeat popband uit Schotland. Wij pikte Mona Lisa Overdrive op, een sterk nummer met een verrassend lekkere break.



Onze favoriete Australische band The Belligerents bracht onlangs een nieuwe single uit, genaamd ‘Infatuation’. Wat kan ik zeggen? Hij is weer ouderwets lekker.



Mystery Jets is met een nieuwe (en fijne) plaat weer helemaal terug. Van het nieuwe album Radlands kozen wij Someone Purer uit.



Choir Of Young Believers is een muzikaal project van de Deense Yannis Noya Makrigiannis en bracht onlangs zijn tweede album uit genaamd: Rhine Gold. ‘Patricia’s Thirst’ beviel daarvan erg goed.
